brineger project

my journey started when I happened to take a non-major ceramics class to get an “easy A” in my junior year at university of southern mississippi. because of the magic of clay, as some of you know, I got addicted to the joy of getting muddy and making objects that I could use everyday, and it led me to take more courses in art. as I was finishing my first bachelor’s degrees, I was selected as a recipient of the roger brinegar endowed scholarship in 2000. the scholarship was established after a mississippi potter, late mr. roger brinegar (1941-1993,) and it gave me an opportunity to stay in school in order to pursue my study in ceramic art. through the scholarship, I learned more about mr. roger's work and also got to know his wife, ms. margaret buttross-brinegar. (after some years of connection, now I call her my "mississippi mom.") whenever my work evolves, I make a ring teapot that is inspired by mr. roger’s signature piece, and I believe, within this series, he continues to live in my hands. it always has been my interest to return my appreciation toward their generosity back to the foundation, however, instead, I decided to 'pay forward' to ms. brinegar's passion, the children's center for communication and development. I create works inspired by mr. roger's work, and all the proceeds from this series will be donated to the CCCD for the renovation of classrooms/observation rooms and for building a safe playground for kids.

this is a recently committed project, and only limited amount of work is available at a time. I humbly ask for your understanding and support for this project.

available work and your donation will be posted soon.
