27: "lormina salter fellowship exhibition" is scheduled on june 27 through august 1. yoshi is a recipient of the fellowship this year, and he presents one year of development as a resident artist at baltimore clayworks through this exhibition. date and time of reception are tba.

december, 2008

3: baltimore clayworks annual holiday sale "extravaganza!" opens on december 3. yoshi's new work will be available at this month-long sales event.

november

12: yoshi is invited to give a lecture about his work at maryland institute college of art on november 12 at 10 am. he also gives wheel throwing demonstration prior to the lecture.

september

27: yoshi's work got accepted to "platters and pourers exhibition" at baltimore clayworks in maryland. the exhibition is from september 27th, with a reception 6-8pm, through november 6th.

19: yoshi's work has been accepted into "george ohr national challenge exhibition" at ohr-o'keefe museum of art in biloxi, ms. the exhibit opens with reception on september 19th and continues through november 9th.

1: yoshi was selected as a recipient of the lormina salter fellowship at the baltimore clayworks and invited to become a resident artist. he is moving to baltimore at the end of the summer after completing his study in illinois as well as a short visit to mississippi.

9: yoshi's mfa thesis exhibition, "seductive elegance," is at mitchell gallery at siuc university museum from may 4-10 with the reception on 9th, 4-7pm.

april

23: southern clay works is hosting our "annual spring cup sale." it starts with the preview sale at pulliam breezeway at siuc from 4pm to 7 on wednesday april 23th, and the cup sale continues on thursday april 24th through friday april 25th from 10am to 4pm.

march

29: yoshi's work got accepted to "35th annual bi-state art competition" at the meridian museum of art in mississippi. exhibition is up from march 15 through april 17, and the awards reception is march 29, 6-8pm.

21: yoshi's work was selected for the inclusion of "30th annual purchase award show" at student center at siuc. exhibition is through april 2, with the reception on friday, march 21, 7-9pm.

additional info: his work won "third place purchase award" during this exhibition and will be displayed as a permanent collection at the student center.

20: yoshi's work has been selected for the 2008 nceca regional student exhibition at pittsburgh center for the arts in pennsylvania from february 8 through march 22. the artists reception is on march 20.

10: yoshi's work has been accepted into "the north american ceramic cup show" at siena heights university in adrian, michigan. the show is from march 10 through 21.

february

21: yoshi's work has been selected for "third international small teapot competition" at saddleback college in mission viejo, california. the exhibition date is february 25 through march 27 with artist's reception on february 21.

17: yoshi's work is a finalist in "2008 niche student awards competition" in conjunction with niche magazine and the buyers market of american craft in philadelphia, pennsylvania on february 15-18. the work was selected out of more than 1000 entries, and it is truly an honor to be selected as a finalist. the award celemony is held february 17.

15: "love at the glove," a theme-oriented annual special exhibition and reception is february 15, 7-10pm, at surplus gallery at siuc. like last year, yoshi's experimental work is displayed.

12: yoshi's work is displayed at the global gallery, newly added space at the student center at siuc, for the rest of the semester. the dedication celemony is on february 12 tuesday at 6pm. in addition, one of yoshi's work is donated as a permanent collection for the future growth of the gallery.

8: with featuring works by mr. brad schweiger, students and faculty of siuc ceramics department are having a combined show at surplus gallery at siuc. the closing reception is on february 8 friday at 6-9pm.

23: the returning exhibit of collaboration work by yoshi and adam hawk, a graduate student in blacksmithing, titled "better than III," is at art alley at siuc student center from january 23 through february 12.

november, 2007

30: school of art and design at siuc hosts their annual fundraising event, "art over easy 3" on november 30, 7-9pm. yoshi donated his work, and also the works of faculty, students, and alumni are available on this live and silent auction. the proceeds help the funding for our new building as well as scholarships for students.

28: southern clayworks (scw,) the ceramics student organization, is hosting their annual holiday sale at the siuc student center november 29-30, 10am-5pm, and december 1, 9am-4pm. the sale starts with the preview sale on wednesday, november 28, 5-8pm at the pulliam hall breezeway. part of the proceeds go toward the club and the ceramics department in order to purchase equipment and inviting visiting artists. please support young artists.

16: yoshi's work got accepted to "national juried/invitational ceramic cup show" at gulf coast community college in panama city, florida. the show is from november 16 with an opening reception 5-7pm through january 8.

9: "mfa preview exhibition" is the opportunity to glance at what the mfa candidates at siuc have been exploring in their study so far prior to their thesis exhibitions at the end of the school year. the date of the exhibition are november 7 - december 7 at the university museum, and the reception is scheduled for november 9, 4-7pm.

6: in conjunction with the carbondale metals conference, sims (southern illinois metalsmiths society) hosts the annual live and silent benefit auction at the turley park on october 6 at 5pm. yoshi's work as well as two of adam and yoshi's collaborated pieces are donated for this auction.

september

13: yoshi's work has been accepted into the ceramic sculpture national juried exhibition at nicholls state university in thibodaux, louisiana. the date of the exhibition are august 20 - september 14. a closing reception is scheduled for september 13, 3-5pm.

4-8: the show at siuc vergette gallery, september 4-8, has been canceled.

august

20-25: adam hawk, a graduate student in blacksmithing, and yoshi exhibit their playful collaboration work, titled "better than III," at siuc vergette gallery from august 20-25. adam and yoshi will continue to work together during their last year of graduate program at siuc and hope to have another show at the end of the school year.

14: yoshi has sent his work for the inclusion in "the cup & saucer exhibition," at where I fell in love gallery in warwickshire, england. the exhibition is from july 14 through 31 and online, www.whereifellinlovegallery.com.

30: yoshi's works have been accepted for "1830F: contemporary expressions in clay," to be held at the springfield art association, illinois, june 30 through august 11 featuring the work of 13 ceramic artists from around the state. opening reception is from 5:30 to 7:30pm at edwards place historic home at saa on june 30.

2: yoshi's works are included for "saratoga springs 1st annual tea bowl competition," at beekman street artists gallery in saratoga springs, new york from june 1 through july 1st, and its reception is on june 2.

1: isadore gallery in lancaster, pennsylvania, has chosen yoshi's works to be included for their "national juried/invitational ceramic cup exhibition," which is on display from may 31 - june 30. the opening reception is on friday june 1, 5-9pm.

2: yoshi's work has been accepted for inclusion in the kent state university, "7th annual national juried cup show," in kent, ohio. exhibition dates are from may 2 through june 9.

20: fine line creative arts center in st. charles, illinois accepted yoshi's works for their "divine dirt" show. exhibition is from april 16 through may 23, with the artist's reception on friday, april 20, 5:30-8pm.

6: yoshi's work was accepted for "second annual national juried cup show" at university of arkansas @ montecello. exhibition is from april 6 through may 11.

24: yoshi's work got accepted to "34th annual bi-state art competition" at the meridian museum of art in mississippi. exhibition is up from march 17 through april 14, and the awards reception is march 24, 6-8pm.

16: in the conjunction to nceca 2007 louisville ky, yoshi's work has been selected for "by the ounce" exhibition at the louisville stoneware in kentucky, march 12-17, and the reception is on 16, 6-9pm. also, ceramics students at siuc were invited to show works in "emerging excellence: 15 regional university programs," march 14-17, at the mellwood art and entertainment center. the receiption is on 16, 6-8pm

7: second-year graduate students at siuc present their progress through a show, "triskaidekaphobia," at surplus gallery at siuc, march 5-7. the reception for this exhibition is march 7, wednesday from 6 to 9pm.

23: yoshi's works were selected for the "2007 first annual siuc juried art exhibition." the exhibition is on display in surplus gallery at siuc, february 22 and 23, and the closing reception is on february 23 from 6-9 pm.

22: two of yoshi's work have been selected for eastern washington university's "two by two: small-scale ceramic sculpture biennial." the exhibition dates are february 22 through march 21, and the exhibition opens with an reception at noon on february 22.

11: yoshi's work has been selected for the "big muddy juried ceramics exhibition" at clarke college in iowa. the exhibition is from february 8 through march 8 with an opening reception on february 11 from 1-3 pm.
